In the past month or so, we’ve had the unfortunate issue of what I would call “identity theft.” However, the identity theft we’ve been dealing with is not in the typical sense of the term. The theft that we’ve been dealing with is competitor sites plagiarizing our web content and actually using my actual name on their Elance profiles. These sites have been literally copying our web content, our portfolio samples and another person actually used Words You Want and my name, Valerie Mellema, in their Elance profile!
Fortunately, these issues were quickly dealt with via a lengthy cease and desist letter as well as reporting the violations to Elance. However, I just wanted to post here stating that to ensure you’re speaking with Words You Want directly, all emails are signed by me, Valerie Mellema and my Elance username is valeriem. Communications sent through WordsYouWant.com come to my email address at valerie (at) wordsyouwant.com as well. If you see anything suspicious, I’d appreciate an email about it as well.
